I urge all City Council members to support a requirement that people wear masks in public. Wearing a mask is easy, and it will save lives. It's like following the rules of the road. It might be more convenient to run that red light, but we don't let people do that because of the risk it poses to other drivers and themselves.

There is no harm in wearing face masks. However, there is harm in not wearing them. Face masks will help us to get our economy back up and running safely. There is no reason these shouldn’t be required.

I have practiced Emergency Medicine for over 30 years and serve as a consultant to the CDC. I strongly urge the Phoenix City Council to adapt a mandatory facemask requirement immediately. This is an absolute necessity to save countless lives in Phoenix and Arizona. Given the lack of an effective treatment or vaccine for COVID-19, the mandatory use of facemasks and social distancing saves lives and can dramatically decrease virus spread.

As a social worker working with vulnerable, at risk populations in our community who don't have access to health care/ medical insurance - I support wearing mask and having it enforced ! Please , let's do our part to help stop and slow the spread and show care to those around us. Wearing a mask is a small sacrifice we can tangibly do

Please vote in support of a citywide mandate for masks in Phoenix. Cases are increasing daily and we are breaking records as each day passes in AZ. As the parent of two school aged children and the President of PV’s United Parent Council I am very concerned our schools will not be able to open on time.Face coverings are a simple researched based preventative measure we can take to protect ourselves from community spread to help ensure our schools can open in the next few weeks.

Please mandate masks for all public interactions, including healthcare settings. Stop the spread of the virus with the only proven scientific method per the CDC short of a shelter in place order. Supreme Court case Jacobson v. Massachusetts clearly gives the city the right to do so. Do not hesitate and then help citizens understand that this is not a contitutional right.

As a parent and teacher with acute asthma, I support a face covering requirement in public places. I want to be able to return to my classroom this fall and we have to do something to curb the spread of Covid. However, the enforcement of a mask mandate must include a plan to limit unnecessary police contact and plan to provide face coverings to community members who might lack access to them.

As a physician there is no question that the simple act of donning a face covering will save lives. The only way out of this is through it together. My patients are angry and confused by the mixed messages from government. We need consistent and informed direction that the public can trust that is based in scientific fact. Face coverings reduce infection rate and save lives. Phoenix needs to be a voice of reason and sound advice.

As a physician, I strongly support a mandate to wear masks on public. I believe the evidence is very clear that universal masking will help decrease transmission of this disease.

I am a District 4 resident as well as a business owner. I wear a mask when out in public because it’s the easiest and most effective tool we have, along with social distancing, while in the company of others, period. I do it for you. I’d hoped you’d do it for me, however, it appears we sorely need clear direction from leaders because mixed messaging and partisanship has muddied the issue. Science says to do it. Vote YES to save our residents and to save a shutdown. #MaskUpAZ #MaskUpPHX

We have a family owned business that has operated in Phoenix since 1978. Our employees wear masks and we have created social distancing spaces for customers and employees to conduct business. Our employees recently asked us to encourage our customers to wear masks. Now we have signs asking customers to wear masks. If they don’t have one we provide it. We are going to continue our own “MaskUpAZ” policy and we support a city-wide policy of mask-wearing for everyone.

This is unconstitutional and Unamerican. My entire family opposes ANY repercussions for not wearing a mask. They are optional. You are taking away our right to choose.
