As a resident physician in Phoenix, I support mandating universal masking in public for those 2 years old and above. Scientific evidence and data modelling shows that wearing masks (properly) helps to decrease viral transmission. Thus, public masking would reduce unnecessary hospitalizations and deaths due to COVID. In the context of the recent rise in cases, this mandate (as well as other public health measures) are vital.

As a family physician, mother of school aged children, and an advocate for preventative measures, I strongly recommend mandating face masking. Protect yourself and all those around you. I can’t imagine the guilt one would feel if just by refusing to wear a mask, you contract the virus and become the vector who infects community members or your own loved ones who may ultimately succumb to the virus.

Please support the mandatory wearing of masks outside of the home and a county or regional covid-19 tracing program. We know how to control and reduce this disease-- other countries have done it successfully-- we just need to do it. In the absence of state or federal leadership, local government must take the lead.

Please mandate the use of facemasks. The best and most recent science supports wearing masks to reduce the spread.

I strongly oppose wearing a mask I think it's a bunch of BS and it should be up to the individual whether or not they want to wear a mask.

PLEASE pass the face mask policy in Phoenix! It’s scientifically proven to slow the spread of Covid-19. Show that Phoenix is a leader and cares about its citizens

I strongly support wearing a mask and social distancing in public places. However the enforcement is problematic. Perhaps the consequences should be on the owner/management with jeopardizing the liquor license or business license or certificate of occupancy. To issue a citation to the individuals will create havoc and possibly riot behaviors as well as clogging the judicial system.

I support a facemask policy. It’s one of the few ways we have to slow the spread of COVID-19. Without taking any additional precautions, we’re condemning more of our fellow Arizonans to infection and possible death for those in high-risk categories.

Wearing a mask is a small thing to do to make all of us feel more secure, going out shopping, spending money and helping revive small businesses and the economy in general. It will save lives and increase capacity in our medical system, allowing more elective procedures in our health care centers and hospitals, replenishing revenues lost when no elective procedures were allowed. It’s the right thing to do. There is no loss of life, liberty, or property here. It’s just a cotton mask.

I’m strongly against wearing masks in any setting, recently I personally had to be hospitalized because I was wearing a mask in this heat the doctor told me the mask is not ment to be worn by healthy people, even more so in weather warmer than 75 degrees......I was told that I fainted due to lack of oxygen. That was the nice part and me begging you to deny the masks....if it passes I will start grocery shopping in other cities where the masks are not mandatory sales taxes are important.

Masks do not work against viruses. People do not wear them correctly and they are actually more likely to get sick from wearing them. It is unhealthy to re-breathe carbon dioxide for long periods. Mask use raises blood pressure. There are many people who CAN'T wear masks for both medical and psychological reasons. People with asthma, heart disease, high blood pressure, COPD, claustrophoba, PTSD and other illnesses will be harmed if forced to wear masks. Please do not be part of the problem.
