I urge you to make wearing face coverings in public mandatory. Cases are still rising and the virus is not properly contained yet. We have to do everything possible to keep our community safe. This is a bipartisan issue.

Please vote to make mask wearing mandatory and please give it teeth to be enforceable. There are too many people in the state who have politicized science and I fear they won’t comply.

I will state my opposition in brief: I am a bilingual Phoenix native who has also lived and worked in other Arizona cities, U.S. states, and abroad. I've worked in law, education, health, hospitality, and real estate. Never did I think my home town would consider such a blatant violation of human rights. Masks: 1) Cannot prevent viruses. 2) Inhibit breathing. 3) Spread bacteria when worn for long periods of time (doctors change them.) 4) they are uncomfortable. 5) They prohibit communication.

I have the right to breath oxygen and not carbon dioxide. Its my body my health and my choice and I refuse to wear a mask and it shouldn't become a law to wear one. Psychological warfare indeed. If this was a real pandemic half the population would be dead and every govt would be wearing the most expensive gear to protect themselves. Stop believing this Scamdemic. No Masks!!!

Thank you, Mayor Gallego for supporting the requirement of wearing a mask when in public spaces. This demonstrates your leadership and commitment to lowering the spread of Covid and keeping Arizonans healthy and safe

Requiring face coverings will help slow the spread of COVID-19 and save lives.

I support the wearing of face masks. It reduces the outward and inward transmission of virus. It reduces the potential viral load put out by those with virus and “taken in” by bystanders. Just as the smell of a barbecue is reduced when u walk by it with cloth over your face. Masks help protect vulnerable populations. Masks will spur the economy by reducing sick time, bolstering public safety. To open the economy without simultaneously providing public safety measures is foolish.

I support mandatory face coverings to lessen the spread of COVID-19 which is already rapidly spreading across our state. We aren’t locked down so this is the least we can do to try to prevent as many deaths as possible and try to flatten the curve. Many people are not following it as a recommendation, so it should be mandated for public safety.

I oppose the mandate to wear masks due to Covid 19. It is blatantly against our right to choose and studies have shown they are not effective as well as unhealthy. Many people see this and are against it. This seems more like an attempt to control the masses and not for safety at all. Please reconsider this policy.

    Thank you.

With so many people choosing not to take wise precautions, it feels like a necessity at this point to mandate use in public and essential businesses. People are dying and we need to adjust our public health requirements accordingly.

Since Ducey made the mistake of lifting the stay at home order, wearing masks and social distancing are the only way to help reduce the spread of COVID. We should follow examples of states and countries that have successfully contained it by respecting the data and using aggressive measures. The reality is we can't open the economy until it is properly contained. Wearing masks and social distancing are essential to containment and should be mandated in Phoenix and tickets issued if not followed.

Requiring mask wearing in the fourth largest city in the nation to slow the spread of a contagious virus is not only practical but also necessary. We cannot defeat this virus without some degree of personal sacrifice. This is a bipartisan issue.

I fully support a citywide order requiring the use of masks in public settings. I am a mother and a teacher, I want what’s safer for all of us!

Against this. I still want to show my face and read others. With it you don't know who is really looking at you. This wont stop the spread anyway. Besides you're too scared of it , stay home. The digital world is making your guy's life easier to not go outside your house and still have your needs at your doorway. I will continue to be a HUMAN. ENJOY WHERE I LIVE HOW I WAS PUT IN THIS PLANET. Thank You.

As the daughter of residents in their 70s, as a toddler mom and as someone who works with kids, I support requiring face masks statewide to keep those I love safe. We can all be superheros by doing this simple act. Please vote yes and make this a requirement.

I live in Dist. 6 and am writing in support of the policy to mandate masks. This invisible and vicious virus will require all of us to do our part to slow the spread and together take care of each other. Only then will our economy be healthy. Masks have proven to be part of the solution so it’s a simple step that we must try. We owe it to ourselves and our future. Thank you Mayor for your leadership and Council Members for your support.
