I oppose mandatory face coverings. As a person who has Asthma I find it difficult to breath while wearing a mask. This is despite the fact that the asthma is treated.

I work in a pharmacy in a store that doesn’t require face coverings. I worry about the people I serve everyday and the family I have at home. Face coverings slow the spread of this virus- this is just a fact. We need to do whatever will keep people safe. please!

Phoenix must require face coverings in public places and private businesses until a vaccine for the coronavirus is widely available. All of our community members are valuable and we must protect one another.

I fully support a citywide order requiring the use of masks in public settings. Arizona's Covid-19 numbers have skyrocketed over the past week which is very scary and dangerous for a virus that expands exponentially. Masks protect the user and anyone the user comes into contact with and both parties will benefit from a citywide order that will protect the public. This is not about politics. It is about safety.

On behalf of Greater Phoenix Leadership's Healthcare and Insurance Task Force, we wholeheartedly support a citywide face-covering policy. As we're sure you know, the World Health Organization studied 25,000 people in 16 countries and concludes that the chance of COVID19 infection drops from 17% to just 3% when a mask is worn. This action will not only save lives but will demonstrate strong support for our healthcare workers as they cope with the stress and demands of this challenging environment.

Landmark studies have not only shown masking to be effective, but support that this is the MOST effective measure we can take to slow the spread of COVID-19. A study from MIT also shows that cities that take stricter measures during outbreak have a faster economic recovery. Save lives, save our economy. Arizona does NOT need to be a COVID hot spot. We will lose lives, overwhelm our hospitals, and crush our economy if we ignore what needs to be done. Masks need to be mandatory NOW!

Please make masks mandatory in indoor public spaces as well as mandatory for outdoor public spaces where gatherings do not allow for social distancing of 6 feet or more. Are masks uncomfortable? They can be. So are seatbelts, but we wear them. When seatbelts were made mandatory people complained too but science and statistics show that they save lives. Science also shows masks can decrease transmission of the virus. This shouldn't be political. It is doing the right thing to save lives.

I fully support a requirement that Phoenix require every citizen to wear a mask in public to reduce the spread of coronavirus. Please require masks immediately.

The government has no right to make me wear a mask!

Others have already made the case for why this is a good idea, so I'll just echo what they have said. A mandate to require masks to be warn in public settings is a simple thing that can go a long way to slow the spread of coronavirus. It is not a big ask of citizens, and it is obviously necessary considering the increasing number of cases in the state. Honestly, this should have been mandated weeks ago and across the state. This decision is overdue.

I manage a medical office in Central Phoenix and desperately want masks to be required. Every day I am dealing with people who don't seem to understand the severity of the community spread right now. This ordinance could literally be the difference between normal life and hospitalization for me. This is NOT a hoax or some sort of personal rights issue. Wear a mask.

I oppose any further restrictions placed on us by local government. Wear a mask if you feel you need it, stay home if you need to. It’s really just common sense, protect yourself as necessary. All of this hysteria has created more panic than it has prevented the spread of this virus. Hositals and emergency rooms are still not overcrowded; mandatory masking is an unnecessary overreach of government.

Phoenix citizens should be responsible for their own personal protection as relates to covid-19. After over 3 months of daily information, we have had more than enough provided to us for us to make an informed decision. For weeks we have seen large groups, sometimes numbering in the hundreds, gather to protest without masks, and their governing entities from coast to coast have taken no interest in requiring it of them. We do not need our City Council requiring it of us, either.

Let's save lives in our precious State! Arizona is on a frightening trajectory with rising Covid cases and higher utilization of intensive care beds and healthcare resources. Wearing masks will prevent the spread of Covid .... it is an act of selfless respect towards fellow Americans. Masks slow Covid transmission while allowing our businesses and commerce to remain open. Please spread kindness to each other, not SARS-CoV-2!

As much as I don’t enjoy wearing a mask, it is a scientifically proven way of stopping the spread of the virus in our community. Our hospitals are already nearing capacity and if we don’t act now it will only get worse. This is a temporary measure and a necessary one.

Please make masks required! Study after study has shown that this is one of the easiest and most effective ways of slowing the spread and protecting each other from COVID-19. Its just common sense and the right thing to do if you care about your fellow Arizonans.

I strongly support a mask mandate. I want students to be able to go back to school safely in the fall, I'd love concert venues and theaters and art spaces to open again, and I want to believe that we can endure some mild discomfort for the safety and well-being of others. A mask mandate can help flatten the curve and help us avoid more stringent lockdowns. We cannot get used to this much illness as our new normal. Let’s act quickly to care for one another.
