62 Public Hearing - Amend City Code - Ordinance Adoption - Rezoning Application Z-SP-2-19-7 - Southeast Corner of 13th Avenue and Madison Street (Ordinance G-6799)
it is a moral issue to not help those in need or those less fortunate. i am supporting 62 and housing for those that don’t have a safe place to sleep. we NEED more shelter beds especially now.
Andre House is looking forward to partnering with a proven shelter operator - Community Bridges (CBI) - to operate its low barrier shelter situated next door to our current building. CBI will be able to provide our neighbors experiencing homelessness with much needed behavioral health services while also providing a place for those people to sleep inside out of the terrible heat here in the Phoenix area that killed so many people experiencing homelessness last year.
I support the addition of shelter beds. It’s time that our community begin helping the homeless instead of criminalizing them. They are human beings as well and deserve to be treated with basic human rights of good and shelter. Especially with the number of homelessness increasing because of the pandemic we must help them be able to get back on their feet.
We need to provide more beds for the members of our community who are without one. Let's build up the City of Phoenix by providing basic shelter for its citizens.
There is a huge need for a homeless shelter in this area. Men and women are on the street in tents or tarps with little or no access to restrooms or safety. They cannot be ignored and the City cannot pretend they don’t exist. The majority do not enjoy nor did they pick, the life they are forced to live. Women are beaten up or worse, mentally ill are taken advantage of, fights break out, possessions are stolen. I have photographed this horrendous situation as a volunteer for the last 5 years.
The addition of more shelter beds is absolutely crucial for people experiencing homelessness already in The Zone near the HSC. People need to have a safe space to sleep to escape the cold and the extreme heat along with the other dangers of living on the street. All of the stipulations are necessary for people to be able to have access to bathrooms and dumpsters to eliminate waste in alleys and on the street. I know that more shelter beds will decrease the amount of people dying on the streets.
It is absolutely VITAL that we provide more shelter beds for our neighbors that are suffering homelessness at all times but especially during this pandemic. It is not only the right and humane thing to do with our (and their) tax dollars but critical to maintaining public health and making resources available to the unsheltered!
I support more beds for the unsheltered, the city needs to do more for the unsheltered community and providing more beds is a step in the right direction
SUPPORT ITEM 62
This is much needed in our community, and is just the right thing to do.
Phoenix needs more shelter beds! Our unhoused neighbors are people that deserve dignity and a place to sleep.

I support more shelter beds! There needs to be better/more support of unhoused people in Phoenix.
Shelter is a human right, homelessness is not a crime.
Adding shelter beds is the LEAST this city could do.
