I support increasing the number of shelter beds for our houseless neighbors. It is the responsibility of the council to serve ALL members of our community.

As a social worker who partners with members of the community that frequently struggle with housing, I’m acutely aware of how desperate their situation is. They need more resources. Our economic situation is bleak for many, and we cannot justify ignoring our civil responsibility to be better neighbors and humans. These are fellow community members- human beings- deserving of dignity and support. Be on the right side of history - add the shelter beds, so we can /all/ sleep better at night.

I support increasing the number of shelter beds. Our fellow community members need safe spaces to sleep and have access to the most basic of human rights and services. Favoring property and policing is an act of violence. Our city needs to protect the people. Increase beds.

I absolutely support the addition of more shelter beds. This is the least the city of Phoenix can do to help our unsheltered neighbors.

I SUPPORT more shelter beds. The city has a duty to take care of its citizens, especially those facing hardships — more now than ever in a global pandemic. People are PEOPLE and we need to take care of the people in our community. It is clear the opposition has stakes involved in the area wanting to add yet another event venue we do not need. Everyone deserves a safe place to sleep.

The only way forward is through empathy and equity. The least we can do is provide more shelter beds.

This is absolutely a need. Shelter is a basic human need and this is one step towards fixing a broken system.

I oppose Z-SP-2-19-7. HSC has not been a good partner to the community. The Planning Commission recognized this fact and submitted a compromise that helps HSC service the homeless and requires HSC to be a good partner to the community. There is no surprise HSC opposes the Planning Committee proposal! The city has not been a good steward of taxpayer funds concerning the issue of homelessness; millions of dollars are being allocated to an organization without a solid plan in place.

Approval needed. Until there is a real regional plan and effort in place, this is what we have to work with

For 35 yrs COP has promised to reduce the # of shelter beds here. The area is unsafe and unhealthy with 425 beds. Other homeless shelters in COP keep their neighborhood safe. Do not expand the LARGEST COP Shelter.. Do not add Andre House. If you add Andre House, stipulatn 3 means a public street will become part of HSC. The neighborhood needs this public street. COP Planning Dept stips are better. Do not mix low barrier beds with services to help those who want to find a job and get off drugs.
