62 Public Hearing - Amend City Code - Ordinance Adoption - Rezoning Application Z-SP-2-19-7 - Southeast Corner of 13th Avenue and Madison Street (Ordinance G-6799)
More beds! Continued sweeps and weather destroy what little property these people have and it becomes increasingly difficult for the community to support and donate when city/law enforcement does not support as well.
I support more shelter beds. We need to stop the criminalization of homeless folks and help members in our community. No one deserves to be left behind.
I am in favor of more shelter beds. Everyone deserves a place to sleep and to be treated with dignity and respect. Vote like you have an ounce of empathy. These are unprecedented times and more resources are needed!
While I believe further actions to address homelessness at its roots need to be additionally taken, including mental health support, during these difficult pandemic times so many people are under economic pressure and losing shelter or increasingly unable to make progress towards becoming sheltered. I support the motion to increase shelter beds for our most vulnerable citizens.
I support more shelter beds in Phoenix. Professionally, I work with unsheltered families in Maricopa county. Daily I receive calls from single adults experiencing homelessness who have been trying to obtain shelter for weeks. Simply driving past tent city downtown demonstrates the great need for additional shelter beds. Providing this resource would enhance people’s ability to regain permanent housing and overall benefit the city of Phoenix residents.
Those without homes in Phoenix need protection in our community- not criminalization. I comment in support of Agenda item 62, because people will always be more important than property. Our city claims to be a refugee city, so we must do more to protect our own who do not have such luxuries. We must provide more shelter beds and work towards building a safe community for our unsheltered residents to seek refuge. Humans should not be punished or deemed criminal for lacking a home.
Please provide our homeless population with more beds. In order for the Phoenix community to grow and flourish, we need to first meet the basic needs of our most vulnerable members.
Our houseless PEOPLE need a safe place. Shelter is a human right. These are people. Work to resolve what cause people to be houseless instead of criminalizing them. Stop torturing people.
Our homeless population in Phoenix needs these additional beds. I have lived in Phoenix over 30 years and have seen the numbers of people on the streets rise tremendously. These people deserve our respect and support.

Beds have to be provided, and the neighborhood needs help. Both objectives are moved forward with the special permit additional stipulations.

Decriminalize homelessness. The City of Phoenix should support ALL its citizens, with a focus on the most vulnerable.
