62 Public Hearing - Amend City Code - Ordinance Adoption - Rezoning Application Z-SP-2-19-7 - Southeast Corner of 13th Avenue and Madison Street (Ordinance G-6799)
We need more shelter beds for our unhoused community. Shelter is a basic human right and we should be doing everything we can to keep our unsheltered neighbors safe and out of the cold.
Houseless people are PEOPLE and members of our community that deserve respect and care, the very least we can do is provide beds for safe shelter. We have to do better, we have to confront our prejudices and stop looking at homeless issues as an issue of property, and instead look at it as an issue of human need. Torturing homeless people is wrong. God knows that, and he sees you.
I fully support the shelter bed permit. It is inhumane to let people sleep on the streets. Phoenix City Council needs to step up because if houseless people voted the city would look a lot different. Enough is enough. Let people have this basic right and let us be a model for other cities on how to properly take care of our unsheltered neighbors.
The houseless people of the zone need beds, 500 Phoenix residents live in the streets and the shelter's beds are perpetually full, leaving many to sleep exposed to the elements. Additionally, more trashcans, dumpsters, and public restrooms in the zone are necessary for the dignity of our houseless neighbors to be maintained.
Please add the beds and continue to support the houseless residents of Phoenix.
People experiencing homelessness are in desperate need of more housing, and this is the first step to getting that. It might take a long time to enact, but it's vitally important that it stops being put off for the future safety and well-being of the community, which includes those people. Getting the permission to begin using these beds is the first step in a brighter future that has been a long process. It allows preparation for further crises- or comfortable times of peace.
Our community includes our unsheltered folks. There needs to be more resources available and basic human needs such as shelter must be met. I support increasing more shelter beds.

Our unsheltered citizens deserve a safe place to rest just like anyone else. Phoenix needs to step up with assisting all members of the community.
Homelessness is not a crime. The city has a duty to provide for all its citizens.
