62 Public Hearing - Amend City Code - Ordinance Adoption - Rezoning Application Z-SP-2-19-7 - Southeast Corner of 13th Avenue and Madison Street (Ordinance G-6799)
I live in the area and ABSOLUTELY support adding more shelter beds. Housing is a human right and people should always come before profits. Those individuals/businesses against this proposition need to understand that the issue cannot be swept under the rug just because it’s “ugly”. The houseless are your constituents too and should be valued as such.
Housing is a human right. Why would we let members in our community live on the streets if we can actually do something about it? Protect our neighbors, protect the members of our community, and give more shelter beds so that less people have to live unsheltered. Bring your humanity to the table, hold yourselves accountable, and protect all Phoenix residents.
I SUPPORT 62!!! we NEED more beds for those struggling to find a safe place to rest at night. WHERE is the humanity?! I shouldn't even have to be voting for this. This should be illegal! There are millions in the state and I KNOW DUCEY got over $400,000,000 just chilling in the account while people out here shivering in the cold. Don't be sorry, BE BETTER!!!
The city of phoenix needs more beds for community members who are unsheltered. Everyone deserves to have a place to sleep that is comfortable and safe.
I support increasing shelter beds. With the pandemic causing record number of job losses, rent still on the rise, and limited access to different buildings due to Covid precautions, THIS is one of the most important times to increase shelter beds. This is the bare minimum the city can do. Unsheltered people are still your constituents.
Support the expansion of shelter beds for Andre House of Hospitality. It’s absurd that you wouldn’t, because they already have empty buildings. Why make people sleep outside, exposed when there is perfectly good space for them to be protection? What’s the point? Expanding this permit doesn’t cost you anything? Why are you resisting?
Unsheltered people are still your constituents and members of the community. Add more shelter beds to actually help someone for once in your miserable bureaucratic lives.
Homeless folks are members of our community and they deserve to be treated with respect and given the dignity of a place to sleep. Increase the number of shelter beds.
Our houseless neighbors need safe shelter; it should be as simple as that. In a global pandemic especially, but all the time, the issue of expanding shelter beds is an issue of life and death. We cannot let our neighbors, human beings, crucial parts of our community, suffer and die. It should be that simple.

Housing is a human right. Our city and our neighbors are experiencing a crisis right now - we should be supporting them. We need more beds.
