This mandate is unconstitutional but goes against the very fiber of the American belief in Government. A vaccine is a personal choice not a government choice, especially when it's still in the initial phases and there are studies showing there could be long term harm caused by the vaccine. If this was about health, antibody testing would be allowed. But with the loss of staffing, the real question becomes- where will all of our taxpayer funds go?

I have lived in the Phx for 56 years. I'm writing because Phx is in crisis. There are many pressing problems, but if we don’t put personal medical decisions & medical freedom first, you are dooming the residents of Phx to increased crime, violence, disorder. Law enforcement, fire & other city employees have served the city proudly; without concern for their own safety during the COVID pandemic. Medical decisions are personal choice & should not be part of a condition of employment. ~Cyndi Dean

(pt 1) As employees who are proud to work for the City of Phoenix, it is extremely disheartening to have to write this. The City prides itself as being a diverse/inclusive employer that doesn't discriminate against culture, religion, medical history etc yet is enforcing a mandate that completely discriminates against all of these. Our decision to oppose this mandate is not an antivax decision nor is it a partisan decision. We oppose forcing this on others against their will, faith, culture, etc.

Vaccines should be a personal decision and getting the vaccine does not prevent the spread to someone else, it may lessen your symptoms. Natural immunity is a much more important criteria so vaccines should be a personal choice and it is actually unconstitutional to require. Not to mention the city safety that will be seriously compromised by the first responders that are at risk of losing their jobs after years of dedicated public safety working. Please do away with the vaccine mandate!

I was born in Phoenix and now work for the city as a firefighter. The citizens of Phoenix will suffer if this MANDATE goes through as it is unconstitutional. It’s not right how our livelihoods are being threatened. Don’t forget why the city of Phoenix has been known to be the best ran city, because of its employees. My family and I still live in Phoenix and we don’t want to see it compromised because of staffing issues for all city services. VOTE NO ON THE MANDATE! YES FOR FREEDOM OF CHOICE!

FIRST, a U.S. citizen should never be mandated to receive an injection of any substance in their body. What is particularly concerning about the overreaching efforts regarding this shot is that it does NOT prevent transmission or becoming infected. Second, what relevance does an individual's employer have to do with personal health decisions? ANYONE ok with this mandate is ok with a governing body or person deciding what else should be put into your or your child's bodies as well. Agree or not

Why are we pushing a mandate for a vaccination that does not prevent you from getting or spreading the disease? This literally makes no sense! What gives any governing body, group or person the right to mandate that someone else take a medical procedure because it makes them feel better? The only groups or people I know who do that are authoritarians and the science is not backing you. The science is clear, these vaccines are absolutely worthless and may someday down the road prove to be...

First…I shouldn’t have to come on here for a SECOND time to post a comment about this garbage! Fix this site!!! Or do you not want people to voice their opinion?!? The vaccine is a joke, I know lots of people that have gotten the vaccine and STILL GOTTEN THE VIRUS. Surprise, surprise, if you know anything about vaccines and viruses, this isn’t surprising. So you’re going to throw 100’s or 1000’s of CoP employees to the curb over the equivalent of a “flu shot”? Seems like the city doesn’t care

The vaccine mandate is unconstitutional. Federal, state/local government have no right to force a vaccine on any person.
The impact on staffing will be a catastrophe. Phx is at crisis levels with staffing for Police & Fire; the mandate will directly impact ability to keep the citizens of Phoenix safe. If the City is not safe and can’t provide basic services; the Mayor, City Council & City Mgr will have failed in their duties to the residents of Phx.

Do the right thing; stop this mandate.

As a firefighter's wife and a citizen of Phoenix for over 15 years, I am begging you all to please not do this to our public servants. These men and women selflessly help our communities because they are stellar people and care about our citizens. It has been beyond heartbreaking to watch them worry over this mandate and how they are going to provide for their families. If this mandate is implemented, we are going to lose these individuals and our city will suffer. NO ON THE MANDATE!

I have been with the City with Police Communications for the last 10 years and staffing within the department is crucial right now, we are doing more with less everyday and this mandate will not help anything. I do not support or agree with this mandate, I support the freedom of choice.

Oh I’m currently a working member of the city of Phoenix. I am not anti-VAX I am however anti-mandate. We just don’t know what we don’t know yet about this particular vaccine. A lot of us had to get vaccinated before we got hired on various positions throughout the city. We just want more information and more time to go by to see with some of the long-term side effects could be. We worked very hard throughout this pandemic for the city and now it feels like you’ve turned your back on us.

As a Phoenix resident for over 20 years I am concerned about the severely low rate of staffing for Police Officers and Fire Department Personnel who have served our community proudly and without concern for their own safety during the Covid pandemic. I do not agree or support with mandating medical interventions or vaccines for city of Phoenix employees and especially our first responders. Medical decisions are a personal choice and should not be part of a condition of employment.

As a 23 yr veteran of the City of Phoenix Fire Department. I strongly oppose the Unconstitutional and illegal vaccine mandate. As an American, we are free to choose our health care choices and not be discriminated or threatened to lose our careers.Staffiing shortages are already at unprecedented levels. Forcing a mandate that violates human rights and is highly discriminatory would be devastating to the citizens and the City of Phoenix.

I am against the mandate for the COVID 19 “vaccinations”. This mandate is an extreme government overreach and extremely discriminatory against the people who wish to make their own medical decisions. The “vaccine” is continuously proving to be ineffective in spreading or preventing Covid 19. True vaccinations actually work and save lives and prevent or even eradicate diseases. This mandate is dangerous to the citizens of this great city. This mandate will intentionally hurt the citizens of PHX!

Mandating a vaccine that does not prevent disease, or transmission, and does not protect one from emerging variants is completely foolish and downright dangerous. The decision to force vaccinate individuals who vehemently oppose this mandate (and will under no circumstances receive this injection) will result in crisis staffing shortages. This will tickle down and affect the public. It is your job as Phoenix City Council Members to introduce legislation that benefits your constituents, not hurt.

I oppose this mandate The actions of this city counsel will show us who stands for freedom and who stands for tyranny.

We would be wise to watch and see who stands for freedom and who we need to vote out of office in future elections.

I am against a mandate that will place an even greater burden on public safety staffing. We are already doing more with less everyday, and with the prospect of losing highly qualified staff we will lack the resources we need to adequately protect the public. This mandate will 100% impact the community in a negative way as it will result in extended PD/FD response times. Please reconsider your stance on this matter.

I am a firefighter. Over the last two years we fought the pandemic on the frontlines without a vaccine. While most of the city worked from home, we continued risking our lives without complaint. This mandate will effect the entirety of the city from first responders to water treatment. As a Marine Corps veteran, I never thought we’d be fighting for are unalienable rights written in the Declaration of Independence and Constitution here in our own country. Please reconsider this mandate.

As a city of Phoenix employee and resident I do not support the vaccine mandate. People should have the right to choose what medical treatments and procedures they want done to their own bodies without fear of losing their jobs. If this mandate is implemented the city will lose many services due to staffing shortages. Many departments are already short staffed especially public safety and it will only get worse if this mandate is implemented. I strongly oppose this mandate!
